They consist of a single rigid door panel the swings outward and upward to open, typically on a hing mechanism. When opened, the door either slides into a horizontal position above the garage opening or rest against the ceiling, depending on the design.

Canopy Style: The door swings outwards and then lifts up, with a portion of the door extending outwards into the driveway when open. this is supported by a tracked or spring mechanism.

Retractable Style: The entire door retracts fully into the garage, stored on a horizontal track above the garage opening, providing a more streamlined look and easier access.
